by John Ogwumu

I am a teacher in the house also the founder of this forum. I want to let you know that, whatever I posted here, i thought much of it accuracy before posting, and i encourage all to do the same.

For your information, IGEDE language is a tonal language. It is not like English language, hence we do not have diphthong. A situation where you have a combined vowels of two different vowels in a word.

This is true in our old way of writing some words; example.

1. ia in abia

2. ie in ihie

3. iọ in ihiọ

4. ua in jua

5. aị in aịlọ etc.

All these words are not correct.

Research proved that "y", "h", or "w" need to be written between such vowels. In Igede language standard writing, when a word seems to combine "ie", ia, or iọ, etc we need to separate them by writing "y" in place of of "i".

Therefore, the above words should spell thus:

1. Abya

2. Ihye

3. Ihyọọ

4. Juwa

5. Ayịlọ
