EKURWE: OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, THE GOVERNOR OF BENUE STATE, DR SAMUEL ORTOM.

For the love of Master Moses Eje, the boy you carried in your fatherly arm, who was captured from Ochoro, rescued and brought to the Government House in Makurdi.

Congratulations on your determination to maintain peace and unity in the State. Your passion for defending Benue is not in the contest. I appeal that you use the remaining days in office to finish the demarcation of boundaries between Bonta in Konshisha and Ukpute in Oju Local Governments.

Recalled, Benue State Government, under your leadership, saw the need to put a lasting measure to the perennial crisis between the two communities Ukpute/Ochoro and Bonta by setting a boundary adjustment committee headed by the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Benson Aboonu. The State Executive Council saw that boundary adjustment was not one of the solutions but the only one. With less than three months to the end of your tenure, the demarcation is not done. Who and what stopped the process?

You have not been part of people divided by politics, people who choose sides and throw sticks, but have proven over time to advocate for unity, common ground, mutual respect and empathy to all sections of the State, especially when it bothers on human life.

Governor Ortom, kindly demarcate the boundary. It will not only prevent the possibility of reoccurrence in the future, but it will also be the best parting gift to the two communities.
