Igede agba is an annual festival, to thank God for yearly good harvest by all Igede people at home and in diaspora. The festival symbolizes the beginning of harvest and start of next year work cycle. It is a celebration of new yam in particular. The history of Igede Agba festival dated back to the arrival of the gede people to their present place of dwelling. The Igede origin according to oral tradition can be trace to great ancestral father call Agba, the progenitor of all Igede people and other 4 tribes. It is after the man the Igede Agba festival was coined-The reawakening of this aged long tradition is attributed to the formation of Igede Youths Association (IYA). Hence, this group introduced the unified Igede Agba festival in early 1960s to celebrate Igede national day (Igede day). The founding members of (IYA) who have resolved, sequel to their meeting regarding Igede Agba festival were as follows Chief Ajene Okpabi, James Ikpiragwu (the 1st Igede son that went to Europe for studies) Oga Okwoche, Oga Idikwu, Moses Idajọ, Isaac Ikpa, Onah Ejugwu, Okpenge Okpabi, etc.
