BACK TO THE HEART OF TRUE RELIGION
OLF SERIES 2021 JANUARY 31ST, 2021.
Mark 12:41-44 “Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything — all she had to live on.”
Giving to God is all about staying in love with God. The quality of your affection and love for God will determine how you will release your substances to Him. The marks of distinction in the life of this widow was that she had a delightful commitment towards God. She saw her God as a special delight and as such, she decided to be sold out to Him completely. She understood the solemn fact that her own God owns all things, and that He has all the power to make grace abound even in her scarcity. This kind of giving begins from the heart that has yielded completely to God.
This is our determination in LOVECARES this year 2021; we desire to come to that level of understanding and relationship with Christ like this woman. In 2021 and in all our work right from the Board to the Administrative committee, from the Staff to the Volunteers, from our Clients to all our Stakeholders and Contacts, we will willingly and obediently give our hearts, time, strength, intellect and resources to the work of God and the mandate of LOVECARES. We pray that we should be strengthened in our inner part, that service to God this year and at all times will our delight and not a burden. So help us God.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Are they times you have benefitted from the support of others? Have you ever benefitted from the warmth of another person in your coldest seasons or moments of your life? We need to thank God for those He has graciously provided and also for those He graciously allowed to come to our life for a share of assistance for our mutual good and His glory.
The Lord orchestrated a great victory that included the efforts of Joshua, who led fighting men on the battle field, and Moses, who kept his hands raised while holding the staff of God. When Moses hands grew weary, Aaron and Hur assisted by each holding up his hands until the setting of the sun and the defeat of the enemies. (Exodus 17:8-13). Together we will win, we are made for each other. As a community, as Igede people, God has given us the privilege of sharing each other’s burdens.
The value of interdependence can never be underestimated. God, in His kindness, graciously provides people as His agents for mutual good. Listening ears and helping hands, wise, comforting and correcting words. These and other resources come to us and through us to others. Together we will win and God gets the glory.
All our stakeholders need to be there for one another and spread the aura of love that Christ shown. The love that cares!!! John 15:12-15 reminded us: “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.”

“This is my command: Love each other.” John 15:17
Undoubtedly, this is the command of Christ and anybody that have a part in Him must obey. This is one of the evidences that shows the evil world and sinners that we belong to Him.
Fellow pilgrims, the people of the world fights for fame; people are even becoming a household name based on the business they do. There seem to be a monopoly played over so many products in the world today, that it is almost becoming impossible to compete with them.
What kind of person are we supposed to be then? We the followers of Christ ought to display LOVE in such a way that it will be unsurpassed. We are chosen by Christ for His love to be revealed no matter the situation around us. Let us keep in step with God and be focused. Let our love be shed abroad that people will behold it and glorify our Father in heaven. This is almost last day in the first quarter of the year 2021; can we say, we have shown love to anybody and that person just remarked- ‘thank God’. How many people smiled and glorify God because of you?
All our stakeholders need to be there for one another and spread the aura of love that Christ shown. The love that cares!!! John 15:12-15 reminded us: “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. Matthew 25:37-40 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
Welcome to this edition of LOVECARES TODAY. Ouraim every day and every month when we publish is to encourage us to go back to the heart of the gospel of Christ. We found this story by an anonymous author and wish to share it. Happy reading and we wish we pick up the challenge it is meant to produce and may we find a need to go and help the needy in our society for the sake of Christ.
There was a fifteen-year-old boy…. He was caught stealing from a store. On trying to escape from the hold of the guard, a shelf of the store was also broken.
The judge heard the crime and asked the boy, “Did you really steal something, a packet of bread and cheese?”
The boy responded by looking down: – “Yes.”
Judge: – “Why?”
Boy: – “I needed it.”
Judge: – “Couldn’t you have bought.”
Boy: – “There was no money.”
Judge: – “Take it from the family.”
Boy: – “There is only mother in the house. Sick and unemployed, Bread and Cheese were also stolen for the same.”
Judge: – “You don’t do anything?”
Boy: – “Used to wash a car. When I took a day off to take care of my mother, I was fired.”
Judge: – “Don’t you ask someone for help?”
Boy: – “Had left the house since morning, went to about fifty (50) people, took this step at the very end.”
*When the arguments ended, the judge began to pronounce the verdict; … “the theft and especially the theft of Bread is a very shameful crime and we are all responsible for this crime. *
Every person in the court, including me, is a perpetrator, so every person present here is fined ten dollars. No one can get out of here without giving ten dollars.” Saying this, the judge took ten dollars out of his pocket and then picked up the pen and started writing:
– ‘In addition, I fine the store a thousand dollars for handing over a hungry child to the police.’ ‘If the penalty is not deposited within 24 hours, the court will order to seal the store.’
‘By giving the full amount of fine to this boy, the court asks for forgiveness from that boy.’
After hearing the verdict, tears were pouring from the eyes of the people present in the court, that boy’s handcuffs were also untied. The boy was watching the judge again and again, who came out hiding his tears.
Are our society, systems and courts ready for such a decision? If a hungry person is caught stealing bread, then the people of that land should be ashamed and more especially the Christians.
Are People around us not going without food, and do we think Christ is happy with us?

Isaiah 35:3-6 “Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.” Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.”
Welcome to this edition of LOVECARES TODAY. Ouraim every day and every month as we publish is to encourage ourselves to go back to the heart of the gospel of Christ; which is found in James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
What are some of the ways you have been encouraged recently? How will you encourage someone who is facing hard times? We should come to the realisation that we are unlovable because of the wrong things we have done against God, but God looked beyond our faults and weakness’ and showered His love on us. God’s unconditional love is apparent throughout the many weak-kneed moments of His people. This encouragement come as a result of the embracing hope that is found in the life of Christ in us today. The encouragement we received is also for us to in turn be able to encourage others, that is why verse 4 says “say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear…”
Feeling weak-kneed? Talk to your heavenly Father. He will strengthen your weak and feeble knees through the truth of the Scriptures and the power of His presence; you will then be able to encourage others. You make the investment of God on your life more fruitful when you invest in others what you have received freely. We are called to the ministry of strengthening weak knees.

2 Corinthians 8:1-3 “And now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own.”
Welcome to June 2021 edition of LOVECARES TODAY.
In realising the desire of our Lord and Master Christ, we must grow into giving, because freely we have received from Him and freely we should give. Giving is something we should grow into. Since we desire to excel in everything, we should make it a duty to excel in this grace of giving; it is after all more blessed to give than to receive.
This is half of the year and we should take stock- Can we remember a person that has benefitted from our giving since January? Is that person your relation or not related to you? Does that person have the ability to repay you or will never be able to repay you? In what way do we need to grow in giving? What could we do today? As our hearts are focused on Christ for life, may our hands open in love to others.
