“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12
Welcome to this edition of LOVECARES TODAY. Ouraim every day and every month as we publish is to encourage ourselves to go back to the heart of the gospel of Christ.
The world would have been a better place to live; if we decide to follow the instructions of God in all relational matters. For this edition, we hope to present a story from an anonymous writer and hope that we will draw valuable lessons from it.
AN ARMY OFFICER TOLD HIS FRIENDTWO THINGS HE ALWAYS TELL HIS COLLEAGUES. (By Anonymous writer)
He said, every day before you go to bed, fix your uniform and hang it up on the wall opposite your bed. When you get into bed, look at that uniform and ask yourself, what happens if I don’t wear this uniform and try to enter any army installation? The answer is far from being saluted! You will be stopped at the gate and questioned! And if another person wears this uniform and walks past the quarter guard, he will get a salute. So the salute was not for you, it was for the uniform hanging on that wall which made you what you are; but remember it’s not going to be yours forever! It will go away one day…So, prepare yourself for it!
The second; every day when you finish work, make every one leave your office, get up from your chair, walk across to the other side, sit down and look at your chair. There were so many orders you passed today thinking they were very important, but tomorrow someone else will sit on that same chair and may reverse all your orders. The orders you passed, thinking you were an important person was actually the chair which was passing them. And that chair is only temporary! It’s not going to be yours forever! It just gave you some temporary powers which will be gone the moment you leave the chair.
Use the powers given to you judiciously. Use it to write your name in gold. Use it to wipe away tears from the faces of the less privileged in our society. Use it for nation building and not with arrogance to prove your superiority. May I ask you- What are you using your uniform or chair for today? Are you using them to bring people down and show them where power lies? Are you using them to help friends and cronies even when it is not their time and just because they salute you every morning? Are you using them to divide and rule and create enmity? What are you using them for?
What is the story for us, valuable readers? There is nothing that we have or receive that is not from God, we are just stewards of the resources, power, influence and position. May God help us to use our life to alleviate the sufferings of the less privileged. When we do that, we will be fulfilling the tenets of religious-
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” -As recorded in James 1:27

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Welcome to this edition of LOVECARES TODAY. Ouraim every day and every month as we publish is to encourage ourselves to go back to the heart of the gospel of Christ-LOVE.
In the world, there is a quest for the real thing. People make effort to buy real thing or found a real person to interact with; but at some points, they will also discover what may fall short of their expectation. The more the world explores the nature of things, the more it comes to see the centrality of love. Nothing is real in this world except LOVE. Love never fails.
Human love, though contaminated with self, a times can even rise to a seemingly higher level towards God and man. In reality, we are the product of those who loved us or did not love us. Also, we are as mature as our love.
Paul says in the text before us today that love never fails. Honesty may compel us to admit that sometimes love seems to fail. A devoted parents dies while the son is still wayward despite lavished love or a loyal wife continues to love but her husband still has sinful affairs. Has love failed in these cases? Love may not win a response, but love itself does not fail. The person who loves and goes on loving, finds himself all the better for loving. The world’s greatest need is the kind of love that keeps on loving regardless of situations and responses. God has taught us real love through Jesus Christ. May we on a daily basis take the way of Christ and go no other way. May we melt every situation by love, and even if it is difficult, to go on loving still. We in Lovecares Foundation- that is what God has called us to do daily. It is our prayers not to leave our duty post regardless of whatever we may experience.

“Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” Luke 14:12-14
Our Christian life is unto God and must be expressed in the way we relate and treat people that Christ loved and died for. If our Christianity is all about ourselves, then we may be falling short of Christ’s expectation. We are commanded and expected to help the needy. Ouraim every month as we publish is to encourage ourselves to go back to the heart of the gospel of Christ-LOVE.
A story titled “THE PIT” attributed to Pc Study Bible read thus:
“A man fell into a pit and could not get out.
A subjective person came along and said, “I feel for you, down there.”
An objective person came along and said, “It’s logical that someone would fall down there.”
A Pharisee said, “Only bad people fall into a pit.”
A mathematician calculated how he fell into the pit.
A news reporter wanted the exclusive story on his experience.
An IRS man asked if he was paying taxes on the pit.
A self-pitying person said, “You haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen my pit!”
A charismatic said, “Just confess that you’re not in a pit.”
An optimist said, “Things could be worse.”
A pessimist said, “Things will get worse.”
Jesus seeing the man, took him by the hand and lifted him out of the pit.”
Christian are expected to lift people out of the pit. The way we relate and treat people goes a long way to tell if we are really followers of Christ.
