ON IGEDE LANGUAGE: There cannot be greater cost than the loss of interest in our language.

Foreign language and use of slangs alien to our culture have taken center stage in the scheme of things among some people.

This leads to loss of identity and demean us in the comity of ethnic groups. It is a painful thing to see Igede people

avoiding to speak their language in towns and taking pride in expressing themselves in other languages. The rival of

indigenous languages has been a universal trend, and we should consciously and strategically work to beat the trend.

Fundamentally, we should be proud to express ourselves in our mother’s tongue.
