Igede native cloth was made from cotton wool and mainly white in ancient times. It is popularly called Ogodogodo, weaved in various sizes, and is principally worn by the elderly. It is a prestigious cloth and a celebrated fabric in the culture of Igede people. With time, Dr Agocha Ogaga Amogo designed the modern Igede cloth with three colours popularly called “Igede cloth or Igede culture”. The three colours are: white, black and blue.
The white colour represents the purity, honesty and integrity of Igede people.
The black colour signifies the strength, resilience, elegance, fertility and wealth of Igede people and the land.
The blue colour denotes the wisdom and beauty of Igede people, serene environment, lustre vegetation and topographies.
The three-coloured Igede cloth can be gotten in a hand-woven pattern or factory-made fabric in shops across the 36 States and Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria.
