In a build-up to party primary elections for various political offices, many qualified Igede indigenes came out with mouth-watering articles on social media platforms. Myekeemedia did an unedited collection of some articles found on Facebook in May 2022.
It is a fact that while some kings are born, others are made, but it is a rarity to have a born king who goes the extra mile to master the art of leadership. He defies the boundaries that limit greatness. He is next to the word ‘supreme’, a king, and more.
Comrade Arubi Isaac Matthew ticks these boxes as he is considered in many quarters as the new king of Igede’s political space.
Born to the amiable family of an elder statesman and community mobilizer, late Pa Arubi Egbe of Igwoke Uwokwu and Arubi Abigail nee Afori of Ogori Uwokwu on the 18th November 1983, Isaac Arubi holds a bachelor of science degree in economics (BSU, 2007) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (Unimaid, 2011).
His instinct for impact came to bear when he kick-started a teaching career as a corps member with the Nembe Secondary School, Nembe Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
Upon the completion of his service year in 2008, his dedication to service, Professionalism, interpersonal relationships, and the student’s overwhelming love for him made the school management persuade him to stay beyond his service year.
Even when the labour market was still flexible, out of his benevolence, he accepted the offer to stay for two more years before relocating to Abuja where he took up another offer for a teaching job at Ebenezer Secondary School, Karu Local Government Area in January 2010.
However, his teaching profession became short-lived. This was because, while in the classroom, a passion that would later become far more enriching built itself inside of him. He thought it wise that, being a practicing economist and an entrepreneur will be more rewarding in terms of giving back to society, as he would be under no stringent rules holding him back.
Towards the end of 2010, he, therefore, followed his heart and resigned his appointment as a teacher to pursue a dream of changing the world around him for the better, but not without first submitting himself to learning the rudiments of ecopreneurship through taking up an appointment as a cashier at Terminal 5 International Conglomerate. He was later promoted to the post of an auditor in the same company due to his sterling qualities.
By 2012, he had garnered enough experience that served as the basic rocks upon which his adventure into full-scale ecopreneurship was built. He founded the company named, ‘Arumatis Ventures’ that year. It is a conglomerate whose subsidiaries have grown to be giants in large-scale fish and sorghum farming, Barbecue Grills and Fries, and lots more, located at JD Leisure Centre in the heart of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Through this, he has been able to employ not less than thirty staff, mostly of Igede extraction working in the various units of his company.
For Arubi Isaac, responsibilities come naturally because he is a man given to them.
His exceptional leadership style became most glaring when he answered the plea to steer the ship of Oju II Unity Forum in 2018. Oju II Unity Forum is a foremost socio-cultural organization of Oju II (Uwokwu) State Constituency whose objectives amongst others are to foster unity within the component units, promote good leadership, and attract developments to the region through partnering with relevant stakeholders.
The forum was born out of the youths’ desire to have a significant impact on how their people are represented in government. It, therefore, became incumbent on it to produce the next house of assembly member for the constituency. Isaac was first persuaded to vie for the position, but there was an existing peaceful arrangement that indicated that it was the turn of the Ainu council ward to produce the next assembly member.
Isaac being from Okpokpo and not wanting to disrupt the arrangement that had promoted peace for the people over the years politely ceded it to Ainu, but was still persuaded to be the kingmaker who oversees the installation of an assembly member from the forum.
They therefore unanimously offered him the position of presidency which he obliged.
His first major duty was to mobilize the youths of Oju II to speak with one voice, especially as regards their choice of candidate. After that, he, alongside his exco members assessed and adopted a sole candidate from Ainu council ward. They threw their all, both in material resources, time, and finances to ensure his victory. These efforts paid off as the present occupant who was the forum’s sponsored candidate won in landslide victory.
That singular legacy has written his name on the marble as one of his greatest achievement to date.
As the President-General, Oju II Unity Forum, Arubi Isaac also oversaw the empowerment of the security forces by providing a patrol vehicle for the police force, distributed relief materials during the COVID-19 pandemic, and facilitated the employment of several youths across the Constituency while fostering peace amongst the component units.
He is a philanthropist, an emancipator, a community mobilizer, and a perfect gentleman. His humility and generosity have transcended his name beyond Oju II down the entire Igede nation and even far beyond. His name resonates in people’s minds like the echo of a gunshot from a deep forest.
These sterling qualities have earned him a plethora of awards amongst which are;
~ NUIS Excellent Leadership Award, 2019.
~ Igede Hall of Fame Award, 2020.
~ NUIS Philanthropy and Human Capital Development Award, 2021.
~ Eagles’ House Christian Center Merit Award.
~ Methodist Church Nigerian Merit Award of a Pacesetter, amongst others.
As the 2023 General elections come by, the slot for Oju II State Constituency has fallen on the laps of Isaac Arubi as the zoning arrangement favours his council ward of Okpokpo. He has therefore decided to resign his leadership of the Forum to take up the bigger challenge, to build an all-inclusive Oju II whose bedrock will be Peace, Unity, and Development.
On this note, I present to you, a tested and trusted leader, humanitarian par excellence, a philanthropist of no mean feat, an embodiment of humility, succour to the depressed, a bridge that links both the young and the old, the present, and the future of Igede political leadership, the most loved man of the people; Comrade Arubi Isaac Matthew (AIM) as he vies for a seat at the Benue State House of Assembly, Oju II State Constituency under the PDP.
For want of space and time, his manifesto will be reeled out in due course. He humbly solicits your support as a win for him represents efficient, effective, and accountable representation of Oju II and beyond.
AIM 2023 is the voice of Progress, Unity, and Development, and in it we stan.
