17TH JULY WITHOUT JAMES IBECHI’S HARDBALL
17th July 2023 started on an excellent note in Igede social media space with multiple birthday celebrations ranging from High Chief Frank Alochu, the amiable wife of the people’s president Ortomatic Andyson, Mr Elvis Aja to quintessential Hon Matilda Agbinya, among others, until the hardball of ibechi.com hit the media space. On behalf of EKURWE IGEDE WATCH, I congratulate all the 17th July babies.
The recent award-winning Journalist and inducted fellow of Nigeria House of Dream Parliament James Ibechi wrote a heart-rending and tear inflaming article titled; BENUE: GOVERNOR ALIA APPEARS TO DEEPEN MARGINALISATION OF IGEDE PEOPLE. It is a must-read as he vividly explained cases of evident and mindless neglect of Igede nation in the political power sharing in Benue State.
The ear to the ground is about the last paragraph, which reads, “NONETHELESS, WHERE ARE THE IGEDE POLITICAL LEADERS OF APC WHILE ALL THESE OPPORTUNITIES ELUDE THEIR PEOPLE? IT SEEMS THERE IS NO ONE WITH A CLOUT AND COERCIVE VOICE TO COMMAND THE EARS OF THE POWERBROKERS. WHERE ARE THE PINOT OGBAJIS? WHERE ARE THE RT. HON. DAVID OGEWUS? WHERE ARE THOSE WHO SHOULD SPEAK AND ARE NOT SPEAKING?”
Among the several responses, the one from APST JOHNSON OLIHI ODEY got the medal, it reads; “VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS AT THE LAST PARAGRAPH... I HAVE SAID IT THAT THE WORST IS YET TO COME AS IGEDE HAS BEEN DECEIVED BY THE SWEET LIARS.”
ON A PERSONAL NOTE: Believing that APC as a party will offer Igede nation anything good is like leaning hard on the wind. Trusting any political stakeholders’ sweet promises is like cheering the thirsty ground and feeding on the wind. From 1999 to 2014, PDP had given Igede nation–Deputy Governor, two commissioners at once in choice ministries of health and education, principal officers in the legislative arm, electricity, Awarji-Oju road, Oju-Utonkon road and appropriate recognition, to mention but a few. Since 2015-today, APC and indigenous stakeholders have been telling us abstract feats they accomplished without proven shreds of evidence on the ground. Before the 2023 election, it was a “total emancipation or liberation mantra”. Some gullible adherents were ready to kill if you felt differently from their boorish perspective–now the political cake is almost exhausted, and they are mute and smiling and expect all to join them in their unrealistic ego hike. I don’t know the slogan they are using now–YES father of No father. Two suggestions: APC in Igede nation should show more respect for PDP. APC in Igede nation should bury their head in shame until they can reverse the trend before we see their faces again.
Just dey play–the current grandstanding and grandstanders will not last in the political horizon unless they change their publicity stunt and act.
