Comrade David Ogbu Otor, National President Igede National Youth Council of Nigeria, is a household name.
While it may have been evident to the typical Igede society that humanitarian services are done before election year and not after elections, Mr David Ogbu was determined to continue his life of philanthropy. In a society where most young people do charity in exchange for an elective post, Mr David Ogbu stood out. He recently donated a block of three class rooms at LGEA Ohuma Ukpa without political strings attached.
David is generous with love, smile, time, money, energy, emotion, flowers and sympathy whenever needed. David is loaded with empathy for people and knows no strangers. He made friends anywhere and everywhere and could do so, seemingly, at the drop of a hat. As a humble and known peacemaker, he would readily give up a perspective or position on an issue to bring about peace and harmony; this was evident in how he handled the relationship between INYCN and IYC. David is an encourager who made provision for orphans and kids of clergies in his flourishing secondary school along Makurdi Road. He is especially good at drawing out and ministering to discouraged or disappointed people.
Mr David Ogbu is not one way in public and another in private; he is ‘David’ always. He is not deceptive and rarely let’s pride or ambition cloud his judgment or influence his behaviour. David is friendly and good at warmly inviting people to get to know him. In sum, it is fitting that David cares as much about other people as he does about himself. It is hard to avoid being drawn to such a person! This combination of gifts and characteristics made David a rare and lovable person.

While many philanthropists are highly visible and receive public accolades for their giving, this individual has chosen to lend support more understatedly. His commitment to giving has been steadfast and consistent, focusing on initiatives and causes that align with his values and priorities.
It’s essential to highlight and celebrate such philanthropy as it encourages others to give generously and use their resources to better the world. We appreciate this person’s selfless contribution to our community and its positive impact. It’s time to recognize his efforts and shine the light on his amazing work.
