IGEDE is an ethnic group in Nigeria mostly found in Benue and Cross Rivers States. According to oral tradition.
The IGEDE people formally settled around SABONGIDA ORA in the present OWAN WEST Local Government in EDO
North, Edo State Nigeria. They are said to be the descendants of ABGA, a High Chief in SABON GIDA ORA. A skirmish
between the IGEDE and the natives led to their migration from that region to the present day location. IGEDE the son
of AGBA has 14 sons. The 14 Sons constitute the 14 clans of IGEDE nation. The following are the 14 clans in their order
of seniority: 1. ADA – IYECHE 2. OCHECHE – ANCHIM 3. UGBODU-ADIKOBIA – OYE 4. AMONO – UKPA 5. OGBAGBA-
OKPALEGWU – OBORU 6. OCHIMADU – OWO 7. OKPAGO LAGANYI – IBILLA 8. OLOLEGA – UWOKWU 9. ADA AINU
– AINU 10. ADA OTO – ITO 11. ADA ITAKPA – ITAKPA 12. OKPALOTU – IGABU 13. ONYODUM – IDELE 14. OKPOGO – OJU.
