EKURWE IGEDE WATCH.
My greatest embarrassment is when I failed to answer genuine moral question. Maybe, just maybe, not because I don’t know the answer, but decided to act like a trick star and hypocritically look the other way and away from the truth. According to Plato “The worst form of justice is pretended justice”. For peace to reign it is essential we accept that, correct justice is truth in action. Nothing strange, is still about HOR for OJU/OBI.
I am not a politician, so I will not be part of the calculation of numbers of years it stayed in Oju and Obi and where it is to rotate to now. But one fact is agreed by everybody in Igede land- Obi should have 12 years. The one-million-naira question that everybody refuse to ask is- Why was it that, Oju people contested at all the elections within the agreed 12 years for Obi? Where were the stakeholders that are up and down now agitating for fairness and movement of HOR to Oju? Was there any meeting to stop Oju people from contesting for the 12 years agreed for Obi people? Where were the elders, elites and the political class when we had unnecessary litigation from tribunal to appeal court and the dragging for months? I know where they were- around enjoying the drama, looking the other way and laughing. The fact remains, Oju people never gave freely Obi people their 12 years, they took it by ballot.
Now, why all the agitations and meetings? So what is good for the ‘goose’ is not good for the ‘gander’? What a moral somersault? Somebody need to apologise to somebody. Somebody need to dialogue with somebody. Someone should be honest enough to answer the questions and humble enough to take responsibility for the moral somersault. Let’s get to the reality plane and stop this frenzy.
If it is by physical strength, we know who is the most qualified. If it is about micro-lying, we know who will get it. If it is about pseudo-philanthropy, we know who stand a chance. If it is about teleprompter, we know who has no rival. But it is about proven concern, humility, approachability, selflessness, truthfulness, enduring connections, bumper infrastructure, peaceful disposition, capability and that is where we should look to whether in Oju or Obi. If I am a politician, I would suggest-continuity for consolidation and will go for Hon SAMSON OKWU.
