STOP THE BREAKDANCE 2: LET US END THIS NIGHT OF WRONG.

Updated: Jun 30, 2022

Let me thank all that read and responded to STOP THE BREAKDANCE 1 and especially my brethren in Christ, those that we met in Berea. I take note of your disappointment and fear, but I want to assure you that, nothing has happened to my spiritual state, in fact, my relationship with that man of Calvary is getting well by the day. Also, my account is not hacked, but am just operating as a member of IGEDE CONSCIENCE GUARD. I am very sure if it is another politician am supporting apart from Hon. Samson Okwu, I may be considered a righteous person just like others- maybe, just maybe, if it is the one that was recently nicknamed ‘Messiah’ after a program at the pavilion. For me I think, the mentality that anybody supporting Hon. Samson Okwu is an enemy of Igede nation is not fair and maybe, just maybe, it is a political construct in the minds of ungrateful people and enemies of our collective progress.

I think the real enemies and betrayals of our common cause are the people that dressed personal interest with the cloak of Igede interest, those that will form platforms that will bear Igede name but deep inside is their selfish agenda, those that collect money from officeholders in the night and deny under oath in the afternoon, those that make some office holders sacred and untouchable and make RT. Hon Okwu the only person they can criticize because he is not a thug-caring politician, those that crown youths that insults leaders and call them table shakers, those that have no book published in a shelve but have many petitions against their fellow Igedes, those that will go to government house and asked for children school fees instead of a culvert in their community, those Igede people that campaigned and voted against Dr. Akwuma Egboja when he contested at the primaries for senate at Otukpo, and lately, those that burnt down our main market and people’s homes. These set of people need our prayers than every other person as far as our collective interest is concerned- METHINK!

In this edition, let us reason together- with the kind of attitude we have towards our leaders, can they perform effectively in this kind of corrosive environment? Do the Igede environment and body language of the elites and the masses good enough for elective office holders to perform considering our minority status in Zone C and the State? Do they have the needed support as people’s representative? How many unverifiable accusations do we levelled on them because we have android phone and data? The capacity and will to deliver the requirements for Igede nation is in all our elected officers, but they need synergy with all stakeholders. Humans will always put up ineptitude and defensive attitude when he knows that whatever is done will be greeted with ingratitude. No good leader will thrive and perform in the kind of corrosive environment that we produce. A difficult society has never produced a good leader, because they devour their leaders and dampen their ego with constant calumny and the bile produced will inhibit any goodness in them. Let us stop this confusing BREAKDANCE especially my dear people in OJU.

The dance step and attitude will confuse even the wisest. The Bible scholars can correct me if I am wrong, for I am not very sure whether it was this kind of situation Our Lord Jesus had and said in Matthew 11:16-17 “To what can I compare this generation? It is like children playing a game in the public square. They complain to their friends, ‘We played wedding songs, and you didn’t dance, so we played funeral songs, and you didn’t mourn.” All our leaders are said to be bad, the only good people we have are the incoming and those aspiring to contest. These same people, for sure when elected, will join the hall of insult immediately they enter the office and we will be harping for another incoming and proclaim them as liberators and solution to our problems. Again, I made bold to say, no leader will perform in this kind of environment, when criticism is destructive instead of constructive.

I am not a fan of name calling in write ups because it is unethical, but check in the social media the unprintable utterances made against our leaders now on seat. Let me not bother to name all the victims of this ugly trend because you know is true. But going down memory lane, several of our fallen heroes like Prince Ogiri Ajine, Chief Oga Eba, Prince Altine Idikwu, Chief Alagi Chongchong Ogo, Dr. Ogaga Agocha had their share before they joined their ancestors. Just go around and ask those alive the kind of affronts and foul languages they received from Igede people while in office.

Could it be this saying, that has sent us to this state of disloyalty? “IYO ỌNWỤ KA GBA ADỊRAHỤ BA ALA-A.” ‘which literally means ‘killing of animal from the bush and giving to the King ended at Ala’.The mentality of not giving respect to people saddled with position of leadership over us has been our greatest undoing. This principle of disloyalty has eaten into our minds and has been the reason why anybody will rise at the comfort of his home and rain insult on any leader and he is glorified as a hero and a great table shaker. Until we realize that the value of Igede today is the average of our own individual values, we will keep breaking the dance- Oh Gosh, we should better stop that breakdance.

Leaders may have good intention, but when they encounter difficult people, they will find it difficult to perform effectively. Albert Einstein posited “We can’t solve problems using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them”. In essence, to be able to solve problems credibly and move ahead, we need to interpret the world around us with fresh insight and vision. This is the kernel of what strategic leadership, good governance and secure environment amount to.We are all architects of our woes, stop the blame game, at least in OJU, no politician asked us to burn our market square- ‘hard and painful reality but must be said.’ Our attitudes and unpatriotic behaviours should stop. We cannot sing the songs of Igede agenda and yet have no intentions to right the wrongs in the community affecting the people. You and I are the problems and solutions to our challenges, not the politicians alone, let’s have personal dialogue with ourselves and change our attitude towards our leaders.

Every good society will throw her child up and call him OROHUCHARI. Yes, let us sing goodness to the ears of our leaders and they will dance to the rhythm of goodness. Let us sing goodness from Andiibila hill to Ogbodo Obebe nya ala Ukpa, from Oyongo to Oye-Onwu, from Obi river to Utu-kenge in Uwokwu, from Oloko in Ameka to Odapa in Ito, from Orihi to Ukpute and let the refrain be- Igede and her leaders will survive because they are good people chosen from among the good people of this land. To, therefore, continue to wail is counter-productive, we need to change our tongue, our song and our BREAKDANCE.

I encourage all our leaders at all levels in the midst of attacks to remain focused, dogged, unperturbed, unmoved and resilient. To turn their ears from those who hate purposeful and result-oriented leadership, but only clamour for new candidates. To the Youths and Social media warriors who always dwell on the negative. To those who have been seeing nothing but negative for decades. My dear compatriots, LET US END THIS NIGHT OF WRONG. Let us change from malediction to benediction. It will be well with our leaders. But if you don’t want to stop, in 2023 when real men will come out to dance the political ‘RHUMBA STYLE’, you will be forced to STOP THE BREAKDANCE.
