I read with hope and excitement the news about the Benue Youth Summit and the Igede delegates. I also saw to my amazement the kind of traffic the whole exercise generated in the social media. The hope is on the process of the screening; from the party level to the production of the final list by the authority that be. The people at the final screening point that brought out the final list, I think am almost sure are men of honest and apolitical integrity. The reason being that, they people selected will be representing a minority tribe in the state and hence they will not gamble with our second or third eleven. They will be honorable enough not to use sentiments or prejudices to select people that will not deliver. Permit my usage of the word- DELIVER. What exactly are they going to achieve in the kind of State we find ourselves? Let me not be pessimistic-who knows, it could be a turning point and they may achieve much as the leadership in the state are willing for the desired change. Thank God for answered prayers and for the State leadership for this noble platform. For those that made the list from Igede Nation- accept my congratulations. I may not know the agenda, but it will not be out of place if you people will create a scene where you will mention the political neglect we have suffered in the hands of this administration and the infrastructural abandonment we are experiencing. If that is not possible, may be, you can stage a WALK OUT and state your reasons. In that way, you may be the voice for our dear land that is at a moment without a voice. But when the above is not possible, you are free to enjoy the beauty of the venue, collect the honorarium and come back through AWAJIR-OJU ROAD. By the time you are back, the people that screened out certain people for reasons best known to them after they were listed from their various parties and allowed others to form the list might have settled with their consciences. I hope I have not given the whole Youth Summit more attention than it actually deserves.
