In a build-up to party primary elections for various political offices, many qualified Igede indigenes came out with mouth-watering articles on social media platforms. Myekeemedia did an unedited collection of some articles found on Facebook in May 2022.
The lack of adequate representation and poor governance surrounding the Oju/Obi Federal Constituency seat in recent times has pulled spirited Igede sons from all walks of life aspiring for a green Chair slot at the lower Chamber of National Assembly.
There was never a time in the political affairs of the Igede kingdom where we have qualified candidates with intimidating profile in the race for the house of representatives as it’s today. This avail the constituents with gleaming opportunity to elect a right candidate for the National business come 2023 general elections.
Therefore, knowing what and who we want in the forthcoming election will evade us from politics of chicanery; knowing there’s no saint or angel in politics as media teams are saddled with the responsibility of marketing their candidates, including the right and wrong ones.
The plethora of capable candidates in the race is applaudable. But more than that, there are fundamental factors to consider and questions of public interest to be asked before the 2023 general elections. These questions will justify what and who we want to represent us at the House of Representatives.
What and Who Do We Want to Represent Us?
Do We Have a right/ better person than the present Occupant of the HoR?
Can We Organize Debate for all the Candidates and Create Medium to Present their Manifestos?
Is it just an attempt to wrestle power or unseat Hon Samson Okwu or we have candidate with tangible blueprint?
How many aspirants helped Igede people before their political ambition?
What’s the previous leadership experience of the candidates in the race for oju/Obi federal Constituency?
Igede People can’t afford to miss it in 2023 as all hands must be on desk to get it right. We must Shun personal interest and first think the society. Media aides and teams should display maturity by keeping away from abuse and insult on the media.
Remember, Politics isn’t war or fight. Candidates we are fighting for are not enemies, but why the media teams and supporters? If we continue in this manner, we will get it wrong for next 4years. All aspirants are Igede sons and discrimination for personal gain should be condemned at all costs.
