James 3:17-18
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18 Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness. (NIV)
As practical Christianity has declined with the emergence of the gospel of prosperity, man-made peace and denominational approval, even when God has not pronounced peace to the heart of sinners; the desired revival from God is not realised. Instead, disobedience to God and violence is on the increase.
In the last few years, the world has reverted to a sort of barbarism. Neighbors quarrel with neighbors. Fighting is a major problem in our schools, sex and cult among teenagers have come to present a severe menace in our society. Fathers and mothers wrangle and bicker. Homes are disintegrating. High government officials are in heated disputes and not keeping with the dignity of their office. Why and how has all this savagery crept into our social life?
It is because we have forgotten Jesus Christ, the prince of peace. I have seen tough, rough, hardened men open their hearts by faith, receive Christ as Saviour, and become gentle, loving and merciful gentlemen. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. In an angry world, the only solution is Christ and His whole gospel.
